Visualizing the Characters

In my apartment, I have the following photographs on my wall to help me visualize each of the characters.



Onus
Onus is the narrator. I am not sure if he is the main character... or if the group as a whole is the main character. But he is a young black man who grew up in the suburbs and eventually joins the Order of the Oppressed. The story is told from his point of view. Onus is not a dancer, however the pictures in the top left corner help me to visualize him with his shirt of. Which is a huge portion of the story.

D'Angello
In the novel, D'Angello is a strong gay man. He is slightly effeminate but not that much. He is well liked and popular.


Sherrod Rashard
Sherrod Rashard is an emcee who is very spiritual. He does capoeira, yoga and tai chi. And most of the time he is very in tune with himself.

Gurudas or Guru

Guru is an emcee as well. He just drops his first albulm at the time this story takes place.

Malice is one of the seniors who is already in the Order of the Oppressed.

Manuel is one of the seniors who is already in the Order of the Oppressed.

 Roman is a suburban Black man who is tapped by a white order on campus called the Order of Icarus and Phoenix

 Laverne is a very intelligent and popular student on campus who has a sexual reputation that proceeds her.
